Never Let me Go Chapter 4~8 (April 25th 2020)

In these five chapters, the relationship between the three main characters (Kathy, Ruth, and Tommy) became clear. Before, Kathy and Ruth was only a friend who is in the same group of a few of the girls. Ruth was kind of a leader, and Kathy was the underling. However, when Kathy rescued Ruth from the small lie coming out, and when Kathy lost her favorite CD, Ruth found a replacement for it, their friendship became stronger. Even though it was not like a best friend, but Kathy felt kind of superiority that she has a strong friend-Ruth. For Kathy and Tommy, they were more like a best friend. Kathy and Tommy talk about some topics that it occurred in Hailsham together. In the last part of chapter eight, Ruth and Tommy became a couple. I thought Kathy and Tommy will become a couple, so I was surprised about that.
Also, in these five chapters, the guardian, an adult who is in Hailsham became a significant character. We know that the students in Hailsham are different from normal people like us, and the guardian is the normal people so they are different from the students too. They teach many things to the students but there are some cases that communication between the guardian and the students does not match properly as they are different. Plus, the guardian is the person who tells us clues that how students are different from us.
The part that I remember the most is the part that Miss Lucy (she is a guardian) says to the children, "You've been told and not told." I think this connects to how the students are different from others. I predict that the students are born to have a donation to the normal people, and they are told about that vaguely, not cleary. This means they are actually told about that, but they do not really understand it properly. Also, when I look at this part properly, Miss Lucy says "That's what each of you was created to do". I had an impact that she used the word "created" instead of "born".
I am looking forward to read this novel more further.

Never Let Me Go Chapter 1~3 (April 18th 2020)

I chose a book called "Never Let Me Go" written by Kazuo Ishiguro who won a Novel Literary Prise. I had read this book in Japanese before, but I had the interest to know the differences between the original one, and the Japanese version.
The story started with Kathy(the main character) who is a career talk about the memory in Hailsham to the donor she needs to take care of. Hailsham is a place were many of the children live together with the guardian. Tommy was a boy who was bullied by people, and Ruth was a girl in the same group as Kathy. However, the bulling was almost disappearing at the end of chapter 3.
The most interesting part for me is in the last part of chapter 3, where the children went near to the madam who seemed that she is scared of the children in the Hailsham. The children wanted to know why is so scared of them and thought of a little strategy to walk in front of madam with a piece of mischief. However, madam scared at them as the children scare the spider and the children got hurt by the madam's reaction. It says, "the first time you glimpse your self through the eyes of a person different to you, it's a cold moment. It's like walking past a mirror you've walked past every day of your life, and suddenly it shows you something else, something troubling and strange". I think this case made the children realize that they are different from other people. Also, this part made me feel uncomfortable that the way I think about myself is different from what others think about me. It is a natural thing, but it sounds weird when I think about this calmly.
