In Japan, there are many dialects, which could be in the same position as English accents. First, I did not know that America also has a variety of accents between the states, so I was surprised about that. 

For the discussion about which of the accents are the most trustful, I thought that how is it trustful does not relate much, but the scene that we use changes a lot. For example, the newscasters on the TV uses the Tokyo accent, and we often prefer the Tokyo accent on the formal scenes. However, Osaka and the other accents have an image that is approachable. It is useful in communication with close persons. I thought the prefered accent are the differences between the scene.

 By watching the movie, I thought companies are an organization that is strongly related to our lives. The corporation is able to influence us in either a bad way or a good way.  By watching the video through the second term class, I got to know about the corporation. There were thousands of facts and information that I did not know, so the image to the corporation changed. 

Answering the question that would I take an action after watching this 4-hour movie, I would say no. I got to learn many things about the corporation but actually, I am thinking about it in other personal, and think that it is not related to myself. I can not feel that the problem is related to our lives, and the video clip did not have an element to agitate the sense of crisis to us. 

In conclusion, I got to think about the corporation by watching the movie, but it did not make me take some action.

 Today, by watching the video, we talked about advertisements for the product. 

For my reaction to the topic about the advertisements for the children, I thought it is not that bad. Children should also have enough information about the things they want, and nagging is also an important part to earn money and let the economy turns. 

For the topic about the walking advertisements, I thought consumers also have a profit, as the company does. The brand is a status for people. Wearing high brand clothes, having a high brand bag, and using a computer with an apple mark, is a status for all of us. That's why people wear clothes that there are huge logos on, as a fashion. So, I think the companies are clever, but I would never think this is not a good thing to do.

     In today's class, we watched the continuing part of the video. It was very interesting for me. 

    The thing that I thought was that, in reality,  the rich person has bigger power than us, to change the environment to either bad way, or good way. However, it cost a lot to think about the environment, so almost all rich person chooses to earn more money, which means to destroy the environment. Of course, it is possible for normal people like us to make some changes, but it is also true that it is easy and efficient for the rich CEOs to make the big change in the world, rather than us saving water and power, buying organic vegetables, and reduce fuels. Many people would say accumulating a small stack of actions would lead to a huge result, but one rich people changing the objective of the company, to which that focus on the environment. 

    So, the easiest way to make the leaders of the company think of the environment, we as the consumers should make the common sense of the society that the company which focuses on the environment can earn money more than the company that does not. 

    Also, I had a big impact on the word that the man said in the video that the one as the executive and the one as one of the human differs. However, I thought it is not correct to think of these two as a different things. I could understand what are they wanted to say, but I would like to strongly oppose to that opinion. It is true that they did something terrible, even he did that as one manager who thinks about earning money in the capitalist economy. 

    I am looking forward to watching more videos.

Today, we watched the continuation of the video clip. As I thought on Tuesday, the video was very interesting, that gave me chance to review the consciousness of the lives. 

First, the word that was impressive to me is that the word that questioned, the difference between killing people with guns, and spreading chemicals to people and letting them die. I thought there are thousands of people that are killing millions of people in an indirect way, and never be punished. It is completely unfair and mistaken.

Also, I thought that the reason why the company only thinks about their profits, not the environment is that the consumers do not prior the environment. If the consumer has enough resistance to the pollution, they would never choose the company that contributes to the pollution. 

When we were told to research the company of the items surrounding us, I researched for GU, the fast-fashion brand that I wear often. There was a fact that this company released the information of all of the factories all around the world (URL:https://www.fastretailing.com/jp/sustainability/labor/pdf/UniqloGuCoreFabricMillList.pdf). However, even though we got to know all of the factories, it is difficult for people to know the reality of the company only with the information of the name and the location of the factory. Maybe, this would be called as one of the CSR that GU is doing. 

Watching these sorts of videos in class makes me have a wider perspective, and learn many things. I really like the class like this.

 In Today's class. we watched a movie called "corporation". I learned that when they become a corporation, the leader can not be the main person of the business. Because they need to make a profit for the company that blended money to them. So if the company first made the company a very good one (thinking about the environment, paying high salary to the workers and more), they need to prior keeping the shares, so they need to change the company to the one that pursuing profits rather than the better environment and the workers.

In my opinion, I never think the company is one of the humans. In one corporation, there are thousands of people are involved in making one product. I thought, the company is a huge assembly of humans, with completely different positions, statuses, livelihoods, and more. We could never describe or the company as one human, with superficial, non-serious, idiot words like many people said in the documentary. I thought that was stupid. There are thousands of people working in one corporation, suffering from their treatment, money, and their lives, but people describe the company in one word, "aggressive" "young" "active". 

Right now, I am doing a part-time job, selling the child's clothes. Of course, I am having enough payments with only a little time working. However, I realized that there are thousands of people working all day, and having just a bit of salary. I want to dought how does this disparity had appeared. I thought I should have a wide perspective, to know that there are people who are making the clothes that I am selling, who are suffering from their unfair lives.

     I thought we know nothing about the world as we are living in Japan, which is a developed country. In reality, I never knew that there are poor countries that are depredated money, food, water, and even lives from the richer countries. To be honest, I do not completely understand what is the world system for, but I can not imagine that these things are happening in the world that I am living in now. 

    By watching the video, I imagined the people in the poor countries are having such emptiness, hopelessness, and frustration that nothing is changing even though they are protesting, and people are just being injured and dead. People like me, are having a good education, living with a family, and having friends, but thousands of people in the poor country are losing money, house, water, food, and even family and friends. 

   Finally, I realized that there are thousands of people who have never being punished for killing people. If their family is killed, the poor people can do nothing to the killer. I felt I don't want to imagine the feelings that they have.

 Today, we did an arm wrestle competition to think about the powerful country in the world. The example of the arm wrestling competition was very interesting to me that the winner of the tournament doesn't mean that he is the strongest. 

I also thought that it is very difficult to choose the leader equally. It is more complicated to not have a leader, so I think we should have a leader of the world, but if we have the leader of the world, the leader would think of the policy that has merit to themselves. This could be a dilemma that we could think of.

In today's class, we first made a partner with a person who is strange and weird to me. I had a pair with Tenki, and it was difficult to have a talk with him. I really do not have any tanging point with him (except the SHODOU class), so I was confused about what should I talk to him about. However, I know how he is a good person, and I thought I want to have more relationships with him.

Throughout the activity, I thought most of the people are being aware of being an evil characters inside one community.

      In today's class, we talked about how the media report the election. The impressive thing was that the media introduces the politician by talking about things that nothing relating to what are they going to do when they become the leader. 

I found an interesting photo that is introducing Japanese politicians in Japanese media. 

I thought by looking at these profiles (the photo above), I have a positive image of those people, but I realized that this is actually completely unrelatable to their political measures. However, I thought this is a good idea for people who never have an interest in politics, for having some of the interest.

    In today's class, we continued the discussion with the same groups we talked about last week. Today, we talked about the issue of the tax, and the punishment. 

    For the tax, as I wrote in the blog for the day before this day, we should know what kind of country is this. For example, if the country is suffering from a financial issue, the country should have a tax mechanism for the country that is able to collect the tax revenue stably. If the country has a disparity between rich and poor, they may have to think of the idea to collect the tax equally. 

    For the punishment, I thought the death penalty is needed. Of course, there are some risks, but it is needed for the victims to be calm. Also, the death penalty has a deterrence to prevent new crimes.

    Throughout this class, I found out that it is very difficult to think of the rules for the new country. As I am a conservative person, I am being afraid to alternate the law to the new one, and in reality, the opinion I am having was mostly the law that it is already in Japan. I thought I should be freer to think of new ideas and be more creative.

     In today's class, we broke up into a big group and talked about the rules we should have when we are having one new country. We thought about with a perspective of how old should people be able to vote, how can we choose the leader or even should really would we have the leader, should foreign people vote, and more．

     To be honest, it was very difficult for us to think of the rules, that when we thought about one rule, there would be some point that we can not cover, and the point that people would have a negative opinion on. So, I thought it is impossible to make a perfect country, with completely all of the people being sufficient in the country. When we have many perspectives and thousands of people with thousands of thoughts and backgrounds. So, I thought we should not demand perfect politics, and perfect laws, and be more flexible. 

      In addition, we can also say that today's activity was difficult because each of the countries did not have any configuration. If we could think of some of the settings of the country, such as developed country or developing country, many younger populations of older populations and more. If we have this, we can think of the law that is appropriate to each country.

    Because of today's class, I thought about why Coca-Cola became so popular, even though it is very unhealthy. I looked up on my computer about the reason Coca-Cola being so popular. According to this, with my opinion, I thought Coca Cola is popular because the recognization from the people is very high, and it is simply delicious.

    Actually, most people do not think about what is involved in the drink, or how this drink affects their body. Consumers prioritize the impact, and the actual taste, more than their health. Also, I thought the consumers do not have a chance to recognize the negative information about Coca-Cola, because the Coca-cola company is a huge company that sponsors many newspaper companies. Of course, I think this could not happen, but actually, I can also not think out of other ways for the newspaper company to be managed and operated. 

    The clear thing is that people like us, should never believe one newspaper company, and always have a broad perspective.

     Today, we talked about the news company's job that they had to provide people truly, and non-biased articles, only writing the fact about what happened. I thought this is an obligation for the news company to not limit the citizen's thoughts. 

     I think, when the newspaper that I read has a bias on their report, I would unconsciously be on their side and have thoughts that this news company has. It is because the perspectives that I could have would be limited by the biased article, and there would be less chance to have a contract with the other thoughts and perspectives. 

    I looked up on the fox news page, and most of the articles that I saw, had a biased headline. There were many articles that used the word "defend" which is a biased word, and an informal word (slang) was used frequently. I thought many people would be controlled by the words they use. 

Like this, I thought the news company should use a word that is not biased to never limit the reader's thoughts.

 Today, we also worked on our websites. The day before yesterday, I couldn’t decide what to talk about and could not find out the topic, but today, I decided to work on the Fukushima Daichi Power Plant accident. In this case, the media concealed the danger of this accident. Now, I do not know about this case much, but I would like to have a research and write about it clearly. 

Also, we took a photo for the website. We all took the photo in the exactly same place, but we forgot to integrate the clothes, so maybe we would take it again.

Today, we worked on the group work about making the website that introduces the case that people misunderstand because of the media. However, it was difficult for me to find the case like this, and I am researching about it now. I do not know how to research it, because the media is not reporting it. I looked up on Twitter but all of the information written there were abstracted and irresponsible. I would like to do more research and ask many people to find the topic that I can write about.

 Today, we continued having a discussion about the meaningful class. We reached the conclusion to have a routine class, first watch the documentary, have a lecture, and have a discussion. I like the class that has a routine that is simple, organized, and it is clear what to do. The immersion class of Science has a class like this. 

We shared our ideas with the other groups, and we all had different ideas for the last activity to have the grade. It was fun thinking about the class, so I want to get many kinds of class thorough out my student life.

Not having a perspective of each people

At the beginning of the class, we had an explanation that what is the bias and what is not. It said telling the truth is not a bias, but I think even though they are telling the truth when the information they use is completely partial, we could say it is still biased. For example, the media such as New York Times are biased but still reporting the fact too. They hide the inconvenient information and choosing the words, but they are still telling the fact. So, I still think we have to think about this conflict, having a perspective on the Israeli side. Maybe, there would be another fact that we can find out if we do this. 

After that, we got into groups and discussed how we can constitute a class that is meaningful for the student. I thought watching videos is essential to take the content of the lesson as their own knowledge, and their own experience. When I watched the documentary of Israel and Palestine, I was shocked about the cruelty of the war. I also thought it was important to have a lecture to have a common understanding of the fact. Ofcourse, having a discussion sould be the main part of the class. I enjoyed thinking about the class, having a discussion with friends.

   Today, we watched a video called "Palestine is still the issue" made by John Pilger. It showed the reality of Israel and Palestine from the Palestine point of view and witnessed the miserable and cruel reality of the conflict. Also, we watched a one short video clip before watching the long one in the group. 

    The video we watched before watching "Palestine is still the issue" had a huge impact on me. There was a gate between people's house and their schools, and they do not know whether the gate is opened now or not. They would be prisoned inside the gate, and not being able to go home from school. The shocking thing was, that this is their daily experience. Also, I heated the military man closing the gate shouted to the Palestinian woman “Animal”. I was shocked that many of the Palestinian people are not treated as a person from the Israel people. 

    In the scene that showed many Palestinian people waiting for hours, for few cars riding in the road. I can not believe that they can not live freely, as they need to wait for hours at the checkpoint, but it is their daily experience. They are controlled and restricted by the Israeli people, but that place is apparently their country. I was shocked that Palestinian people are not being free in their own country and occupied by Israel. This is not just a conflict, and it is even discrimination against Palestinian people. 

    The scene that I was inspired the most was that the Palestinian man was letting the  Palestinian student draw something about what are they thinking about.  In the video, many of the students were drawing about the conflict between Palestine and Israel, collapsed buildings, huge military vehicles, and crying children. Usually, when most of the Japanese children were asked to draw a picture, they would draw a car, house, smiling families, and friends. This is so far from the drawings of the war that Palestine children drew, but maybe, they are drawing them with the same sense. For the Japanese kids, cars, houses, families, and lauding friends are an ordinary scene, but for the Palestinian’s, the dead human, bombs, collapsed buildings, and the military cars are the usual everyday sight they see. We should let them see the happy scene, as an ordinary life. 

     I can not believe that these things are happening in this world, in this moment. Maybe, something like this is happening in the other place in the world too, not only Israel and Palestine. These cases are an essential news that we should know, but the media does not tell this to the people. I completely lost the reliability to the media. Now, I don’t where could I get the news and the information, and which media to trust.

    Today, we were divided into two groups. one group was told to research about Israel and Palestine by looking up on the major media (New York Times, Haaretz, etc), and the other for researching it on local media. Then, we became into pairs, who were researching on the different media, major, and local. I became a pair with Yuma. There were huge differences between the incident that the two types of media address, the words each media use, and what kind of impression of the Palestine people they provide to the readers. 

     When I shared each other's research with Yuma, she told me that she found news about America is lending a huge amount of money to Israel, but I could not find this news in any of the websites I looked up on, which was all a major American Newpaper. The amount of money was incredibly enormous, so of course, this is a news that all media must address. It is strange that many of the media are not writing about that. I was shocked about this, and I felt it is essential to read many types of media and earn information multilaterally. In Haaretz, I was able to find many kinds of article that writes Palestinian badly. These never wrote Israeli people too negatively and had attention to what the Palestinian people did to the Israeli people. Media having a bias leads to all of the population having a bias, and control their perspectives. I would like to not be controlled by that, so I would like to gather information from many types of media in my daily life.

Today, we shared what we learned about Steven Donziger, to the even number students. We sat in groups, and odd number students, including me, thought them about the Steven Donziger, and what happened about him. After that, we researched about the union carbide case. This was about a gas leak accident by the American company, Union carbide. It polluted India and killed about 20000 people.

When we shared the information about Donziger, I realized that I was not understanding the news sufficiently. I couldn't find the words to explain it, and it was difficult for me to find the words to explain. I felt it is essential for myself to understand it perfectly when teaching other people. Because I realized that I was not recognizing much about it, I read the article again, to organize the information. By reading this after the class (there were many things that other people taught me about this case even though I was a odd number student), I got much more information about Donziger, and recognized much about this case. 

Furthermore, I was surprised that mr Paterson said only a few people know about this union carbide case. I didn’t know about this too. It is too unusual that it is not known much even though it caused much damage. I am completely convinced to the claim that the media and the government is hiding the inconvenient news from the citizens. 

The overall thoughts that I had is that these accidents are very similar to Minamata disease in Japan. We learned about it last year, so I felt a bit of deja vu.

In today's class, we watched a video clip and learned about how movies (mainly Hollywood) inflicts a negative image of Arabs. I learned how movies give incorrect images to people watching them by imagining it that if these Arabs were Japanese.  

Before this class, I was thinking that movie does not influence people thoughts much, that people would know that this is just a movie, and fewer people would connect to real life. However, watching the movie and listening to Mr. Paterson, my thought completely became the opposite. There were too many movies that depict Arab people as a "bad guy", even in the anime for children. Because of that, the image that Arab people are valiant and evil is embedded in many people. In reality, when I hear the words "Terrorists", I imagine Arab people. I do not watch movies much, but I think this is because many people around me have the image that Arab people are evil, and I was unconsciously having the same image as them. I felt that the stereotypes people have are embedded without any consciousness, because of the image that the world has, from a few decades ago. 

I was shocked by the data that 25% of the Hollywood movie portrays Arab people as a evil, and stupid character, which is the antagonistic of the main character. Also, I was simply surprised that Holliwoods show the US military as a hero, justice, and a cool guy. I was convinced that the government wants many people to have an interest in US military, and join it when they grow up. However, it was a little surprise for me that in Japanese dramas and movies, the country(military, governments, ministers etc)  are commonly depicted as the mastermind. Because of this, people has a bad image to Japanese governments and ministers. I thought it is the same thing as this, that many people would have a bad image to the Arab people. Especially in the point that there stereotypes are indoctrinated to the children, as the movie from Disney also portrayed the ara people as the evil character. 

When I watched further of the video clip at home, there were a part that the creator is wanting the Arab actor ( the actor who acts arab ) be violent and evil. I felt these stereotypes would not disappear for the long time, but we have to change it, to stop the discrimination.

     In today's class, we first shared the paragraphs that we wrote in the last class, about Mr. Paterson's bag. I had a bias that the bag is good, and my pair Sayo had the bias that the bag is bad. We looked at each other's, and we found out that the paragraphs are completely different. Then, we watched many videos and news about what is happening now in Israel and Palestine. We saw videos about the girl　crying beside the bombed house, the interviews with people who lost the house by bombs, and we saw how the Israel children are taught about Palestine. 

     On the weekends, before having this class, I watched the news on the TV about Israel and Palestine, that Israel bombed Palestine's building. I saw in the video that the building is collapsing, and I was very shocked about it. However, in the time that I saw the video in the news, I only saw the fact that the building was collapsed, but my mind did not catch up to think about the people inside the building, the people living there, people watching it, and the people who lost their families and their precious ones. In the class, I felt behind this building collapse, there are many of the people's cry, shrieks, sorrow, anger. It is a natural thing, but it was quite unbelievable to me. The point that I was shocked the most was that the students in Israel are educated to discriminate against Palestinian people. I felt a sense of emptiness when one of the students said "When I see Palestine people I feel I want to kill them". I could not recognize the words, and the point that these words are being a "good" word in that community is too unnatural. I can not believe that these things are happening in this world, now, even while I am writing this blog post. I feel I am very powerless, and I am also frustrated that I can not do anything to help them. I thought that the reason many of the Japanese doesn't know about these things is not only because of the media, and I also think it is because people do not try to know this serious news. The information people choose has an offset, and they can not even reach the news that they should know, and keep accessing the empty news about the entertainment and more. Of course, the media should tell more news about this, but also, people should be conscious to gathering many kinds of information.

     Today, we were first locked out of the classroom, and only Saitama people were allowed to go into the classroom. Even when we were able to get in by showing the ID card, we were not allowed to have a seat, and we should keep standing. To be honest, it was a little bit of fun experiencing this, but when I imagine this is happening in ordinary life, going to school, going shopping, going to the restaurant, it would be a painful life. I felt this is complete discrimination against the Palestine people, and it is infringing the right of them. This is a problem before the bias of the media, this is an issue that people should ameliorate as soon as they can. Through these classes, I got to know about the reality of Israel and Palestine, and it was a fulfilling time. 

      Also, we worked on making the paragraph about Mr. Paterson's bag, one for the perspective of criticizing it, and one for complimenting it. I am looking forward to reading other people's paragraphs and know the differences between the two perspectives.

 Today, we talked about the bias of the media, picking up the topic of Israel and Palestine. I again realized my ignorance of what is happening, and how news topic has a bias. I found news from Japan that is completely on the Israel side. It was hiding the story before Palestine had a rocket attack on Israel. Also, it was using the word Israel 対抗(counter) and 反撃(counterattack) Palestine with a bomb to Palestine’s rocket attack (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/japanese/57066777.amp). 

 I thought that shouldn't happen, that media has the power to control people's image to the Palestine people. If the media call Palestine people terrorist, other people, mainly the outsider like us would have a negative impression on the Palestine people, and the composition that Israel is "good" and Palestine is "bad" be created. This is not a neutral way to report the news, and the media should not do that. I completely lost the reliability of the media, so I would like to have critical thinking when watching the news.

Before I had these classes about Israel and Palestine, I never knew what was happening between Israel and Palestine. I just had a blurred image that there is a problem between Israel and Palestine. I thought this is a problem. Things happening in these countries are very important news that we need to know. However, in Japanese news media, not much news about Israel and Palestine is told. That is why I did not know what is happening in Israel and Palestine. Maybe, this news is hidden behind the news about Corona Virus, but it is a problem to not report anything. I thought we should not limit the source of information to few media, to have balanced knowledge, with less bias. 

April 28th 2021

 Today, we watched a video about milk with such medicine in it, and I got to know about the opaque of the media and the company. Because the company supports the media, the media can not outgo the negative news of the company that supports them. I felt this is a complete information manipulation, and it is very harmful to us. Originally, the media has a role to provide us the information that we should know. However, when that media concealed that information to people, people could never obtain any knowledge. The news that we saw in this class about milk was the news that people should know about it for their health, but they couldn't, at that time. Moreover, I feel this is happening every day, all around the world, maybe even now,  in Japan. If this is true, the media is not fulfilling their role and the credibility would deteriorate. I would like to be precarious when using media, not to be manipulated by them.

  Today, we first talked about the sentence of our bio. By looking at other people's statements, I thought mine is not much detailed, and too short. I fixed that at home and appealed more about my activeness to studying English to enhance my English skill. Also, I took new photos, and this time I took the simple and focused on myself, not the background. 

  In today's class, we also watched a video clip that shows manipulation has the power to change people's feelings. To take a video in a good kind of way, the audience would have empathy for the main character (object). I learned that we can empathize with the good points that we want to show, and hide the bad points. I thought it is a good idea for the person who is making the video, and also fun.

April 21th 2021

 Today, we talked about photos we used in the bio statement. My photo was the one I took at school yesterday with Mako, so there were many points that I need to improve. The first point was that my photo was not correctly angled which was diagonal. Also, the background was too messy, and the photo was not focused on my face. I thought the photo I took was not appropriate. I felt it is very difficult to choose the photo describing myself and showing our self better. 

I would like to take the photo again by the next class. 

February 2nd 2021

     Today, I got feedback from Mr. Paterson for our group's google site. I thought I made my own page not bad, but there were not many corporations between the groups, so the website became a one without any unity. I thought we should have talked much more, communicate more, and checked each other's more, rather than having some individual work. 

     The first point we had to fix was the part that the layout was different from the person who made the page. I thought I had unified it, but it did not, so it was our flaw of checking. The second point was that the site was very long so that we should make more pages to separate the paragraphs, videos, essays, and others. We did not think about those things while making it, but I thought we did not think much about the person who would be reading this web page, and we did not have any ideas to make them enjoy reading it. It would be much better if we could fix the site by thinking about it from the reader's perspective. 

     I would enhance our site to make people enjoy reading it, and feel that they want to read the books we introduced. 

The Life Before Her Eyes (Skin, Light and Shadow, Glass, Glare, Birds, Cold, Dust, Stream, Music, Breath, Rumbling, April, Epilogue)

    The frank impressions for me of this book is that this book is poetic and beautiful, but also blur, and difficult to understand the intrinsic part of this book. I enjoy reading it, but the expression is very difficult, and there were many parts that were difficult to understand. I felt it is because this book is entrusting to the reader's imagination to complete the story. 

    When I briefly summarise this book, this is a story about a girl who chose to live, instead of her best friend been killed. The two girls were asked by the killer (their friends) which one should he kill, and Diana-the the main character- chose to let him kill her friend instead of her. The story is written in two different times, one is the time when Diana is around forty, been married with a nice man with a good career, having a cute daughter, and living happily without any anxiety in her life. The other is the time when Diana is around sixteen and seventeen, spending nice adolescent days with her best friend (Actually, in the book it does not say those girls are Diana and her best friend straightly using the word "a girl" instead of her actual name. However, the reader can predict that it is her). This two-time axis appears alternately, and the span becomes shorter little by little, getting closer to the ending. Diana (aged forty) was having a happy life, but this book is depicting how her life become collapsed. This is a story that throws the reader a question that can a person who chose to live instead of others can be happy, or not. 

    The contents of the story were very interesting, and I enjoy reading this, but the words used for the depiction were complex, and very difficult to recognize what the author wanting to express. It was difficult to imagine what is happening, for example, in the very last part, the last part of the novel, it says, "......Diana stepped down slowly from its roses, wearing her white gown, and looked." It never says what she saw, and there are not many hints in the book (maybe there are, but I could not find it and consider it), and I can never imagine what the author wanting us to imagine. 

     The novel, "The Life Before Her Eyes", was very interesting, but there are still many ambiguities, even I finished reading it. I want other people to read this book, and tell me what was actually happening in the book, and what Diana saw at the end.

    Today, I learned that there are thousands of ideas squeezed inside one clip of the video, that expresses the essence of that clip. When we say a "video clip" in one word, there are man types of it, as we saw many kinds of them (talents, dance, adventure, comedy etc...). The video that I liked the most was the one that said "cool guys never look at explosion". It was funny, and enjoyable because of its rhythm,  and also interesting. When we are watching some movies with the scene of the explosion, we do not feel any sense of discomfort, but when we look at it like in that video clip, it was very unnatural and funny, so I thought there could be more fun stuff in this world when we "see" some thing rather than looking.

January 26th 2021

     In today’s class, we watched some videos for assembling people attending the video contest. The video I watched was very interesting, and high quality. I thought good videos have the power to attract the audience and to make them keep an eye on them. Even though they are doing only one thing, I enjoyed watching it and strongly attracted, and even be emotional. I felt that's why they can send the watcher messages. 

     To be honest, I do not have much interest in making videos, but I thought I want to have some ways for myself to convey other's messages, that I think sending others messages is a very valuable skill that people can have. 

The life before her eyes (Daisies, Footsteps, Thunder, Peonies and Lilac, Humming, Blood, Silence)

      In the last post, I wrote this story is written in a soft, and gentle depiction of the scene, and it does not change in these chapters too. However, the main character Diana's misfortune and the adversities behind her superficial happiness were emphasized throughout this chapter, with a soft, and gentle tone. 

     This story is written by two different "times", one is "NOW" when Diana is about 40 years old, become married, have a kid, having an epitomized happiness. The other is when two young girls (17 years old, readers do not know who actually is it, but I think it is Diana and the one more girl with the black hair that had been killed) are spending a day with youth with each other, and their boyfriends. 

     I predict that Diana became unhappy because of the sin that she made when she was young, that she chose her friend to be killed instead of her. Still, there are many vaguenesses in the story, so I want to read further and know about the consequence.

      I like paper, and I prefer reading on paper. I understand how the digital book is convenient that it has many facilities for us to learn, but I still like reading books on paper. 

     I do not have a specific reason for this, but I sensually prefer paper books and have a little bit of resistance to digital books. I really like reading books (mostly Japanese though), so I often do not feel any stress on reading books, but by reading books on kindle, I feel some stress to read the book, compared to reading on paper. I do not know why this happens, and I feel there are not any clear reasons, but it is clear that the digital book is not suitable for me. 

     Actually, I think the digital book has much more merits compared to the paper book, but I feel there are many people who prefer books without any specific reason. However, I think it is also important to respect each other's preference to enjoy reading books.

The life before her eyes (April, Sunlight, Whispers, Heart beat)

     "The life before her eyes" is a novel written by Laura Kasischke. I chose this book by reading the summary of this book, as I thought it is very interesting. So, I did not have any information about the author and the book. 

     In the prologue (April), the two girls with gold and black hair were in the toilet,  in front of the mirror. When they were combing their hair, the boy called Michel Patrick ran into the toilet, holding the gun. He asked the girls, which one should he kill. The girl with the black hair told him to kill herself, but Diana-the girl with the gold hair-said him to kill her friend, not herself. From the prologue, the story is very interesting, and I felt I want to read forward, further and further. 

     The impression I received after reading the few chapters is that the sentences and the words used in this story are very soft and poetic. Even in the scene that two girls have pointed out the guns, the words that depicted the situation was calm, gentle, and even beautiful. 

     I really enjoy reading this book, and I want to continue reading it.
