December 9th 2019

     Today, Mr. Paterson evaluated our group's brochure. The number was very bad but we had many of the points that we can improve so I could have the motivation to go ahead on our work.

     The point we had to improve as the amount of the sentence in the paragraph was not enough, we had to put more information in each paragraph. The sentence in the paragraph was not enough in almost every paragraph so I thought our essay had not enough information that the reader can assent.
    Also, there were many pronouns. It was there in almost only in my paragraph, so I will change all of it to the word that does not include pronouns. I want to have more variations to replace all of these pronouns to other words.
    Almost all of the mistakes was the point that is easy to change. It was better to read a few times before submitting to find these mistakes. After that, I want to know a more high-level way to write the essay.

November 26th 2019

  Today, I finished improving the essay by using AWL and reading levels. It was difficult for me to go over seven percent, but it was fun learning new words. I was very excited when the paragraph's AWL went over seven and had a huge sense of achievement.
  However, I did not know the way to improve the reading levels, but I cleared the 11 points for all paragraphs only for the first time, so I was very happy.
  I would like to learn more words and write a high leveled essay, and to do this, I want to appreciate the AWL and the reading levels to know my ability.

November 25th 2019

     Today, we edited our brochures and checked our AWL's. I don't have many numbers of vocabularies, so there was a part that I relied to the dictionary. However, It was a very meaningful way to increase my vocabulary. I did not finish it, but actually, it was fun using words that I did not know and learning new words.
 I want to learn more vocabulary and be able to write essays without using the dictionary many times and do it in my own words. My aim is to increase my vocabulary that I can use it in my own way.

 Today, we learned how to write a good conclusion, and we got to know many techniques to make the reader remember the point we want to say.
  For the conclusion of the body paragraph, we learned it is important to make a sentence to go to the next topic smoothly. Our topic and the topic were not stuck and continued smoothly, so after we added the sentence for going to the next topic smoothly, it was easier to read and I thought the reader would not be confused and understand the main point that we want to say easily.
  For the conclusion of the first paragraph, we had to include the summary, conclusion, and the limitation in one paragraph. I think it was easier to write than the introduction. However, also, it was difficult to make the paragraph that the reader can remember the inside of the whole essay.
  The conclusion has huge importance to make the reader remember the main point of the essay, and that means, we need to make a paragraph that can catch the reader's heart.

  Today, we checked how to make an effective Home page, and the page that we introduce our selves.
  I got to know that the photos need unification to make the reader do not have any discomfort. I learned that we need a page to introduce the teammates because it is important to know the presenter's personality, the values. Our team did not take photos, so it was not enough for the reader to know who is who, and who did anything. I would like to improve that part. Also, the thing we should write on the homepage needs to be something that connects to the topic.
  I thought it is important to make everything completely perfect. The audience looks at everything, so I want to make everything perfect.

  In today's class, we improved the introduction, mainly hook, and the theses statement. We were writing the introduction very boring so there were many places to improve.
  Our hook was too simple and we can imagine that we can catch any readers. We did not use any of the skills to catch the reader, for example, using questions or using a word having a huge impact. Also, we used some words that describes limited people, such as "we".
  For the theses statement, we were told to include a topic, claim, and the reason, but we did not write the claim clearly, and the reason specifically.
  I want to make an introduction that catches the reader and have a persuasive brochure.

November 11th 2019

  Today, we had a class to make our group's essay improved. There were many points that we need to go over again, so it was difficult to correct all of the mistakes.
  One of the mistakes were personal pronounces, which limit the case to use "I", "Me", and "You", which describes limited people. I was always using that, so we need to fix many places. It was difficult to use other words instead of using "I" or "Me". We were told that we can only use these words when you had exactly experienced.
  For contractions, we were not allowed to use words such as "can't" or "don't", and replace tose to "can not" and "do not". I was being careful about that, so there weren't many mistakes.
  The last point was the phrasal verbs. We need to shorten the sentences as short as possible, as we are writing a brochure. it was difficult to find phrasal words and also, it was hard to find a word that has the same meaning as the phrasal verbs.
  There were many things that we were needed to fix to have a perfect essay, so I want to be careful to not use these things.

  Today, was the first class in November, We started thinking of an essay we write in our groups. writing skill is a skill that I want to improve, so I am very looking forward to having better writing skills.
  We couldn't think of any topics that we write, and it was hard to find out a topic that is easy to write and easy to understand for the readers. We need to have at least some common understanding, but it was difficult for me to find that. Also, the point I thought it is difficult is that by writing an essay, we need to have many points of view to write one of it. This is a thing that I am very bad at, so I want to build up my skills to have many perspectives.
  I am looking forward to writing an essay, and build up my English writing skills.

October 29th 2019

  Today, we were told to use this class for editing our presentation, continuing from yesterday. Also, Mr Paterson told us about "mapping the room".

  I was very influenced by what Mr. Paterson said to us, about "Mapping the room". Mapping the room is to use the space effectively while having a presentation. Use the space by moving, and I thought it is a very good idea what Mr. Paterson said for the example to use one part of the room talking about one country, and for the other part of the room, use it for talking about other countries. However, I thought it will be hard to master "Mapping the room", because I don't have any margin while speaking. In reality, I never moved and used the space while having a presentation, and I did not even think about the effective use of the classroom space for presentation.
 
  For fixing the slides, and the home page, I still continued to find effective pictures that makes people remember it for the long time. We fixed most of the slides, but we are not done with the home pages, so we want to edit it and fix it perfectly before the class.

  For the end of this term, I want to have a margin to think about many things while having a presentation too, and prepare perfect items which is going to support our speaking. 

October 28th 2019

  Today, we fixed our presentation, by referring what Mr. Paterson said to us. I had to fix the picture to match the main point that we want to say, but It was hard finding it. There were many words that was difficult to describe by the picture and also, it was difficult to use each slides effectively. I thought a lot for making the slides more effective, and meaningful. I want to finish all this works we need to do, and for the next class, I want to learn how to make the home page more easy to understand.

  Today, we got some reflection from Mr Paterson.
  He said my slide did not match the main point that I wanted to say. Actually, I was finding images that describes the word "conclusion" or "summary" which is the title of the slide. I had to find the pictures that shows the thing that I wanted to say. I thought I did a very big mistake and made the audience less understand our main point.
  Also, he pointed out that my transition to Q and A was not good. It was difficult to move the presentation this place to an another place, but this is a very important thing to move it smoothly and do not let the audience feel unnatural.
  There were many points that me, and our group need to improve, so I want to do the best to encourage my presentation skills by learning from Mr. Paterson and other friends.

October 15th 2019

  Today, was the last presentation day. I thought today's group's presentation was very interesting. Their explanation were clear, and it was easy to recognise. I really liked their presentation. However, they used photos that came from a site that they need to buy, and it was a rudimentary miss. I thought even though we can do some thing advanced, we have to clear something basic.
  I learned many things by doing presentation and hearing presentation, and my presentation skills got better.

October 8th 2019

  In this class, it was our group's turn to have a presentation. We were confident, more than I thought. Ren and Jo's part was perfect, but in my part, I always said umm... and like, and keep finding words so I am keep regretting that I didn't practice fully. Mr Paterson said that our slides didn't matched the point we want to say, and I actually misunderstood "match the slide" that we need to match the
Make the pictures match the item. For example, for limitation, I chose the picture that matched the word "Limitation", and for conclusion, I chose the photo that matched the word "Conclusion". I made the slide for the last part, so I feel very sorry for my team mate.
  For Sara, Tomoka and Mitsuki, I thought it is a very good Idea to reuse the place where there is a pool that we don't use. If we could have a place that we can study, I would use that place oftenly, and I hope we have a place like that. However, first, I couldn't recognize the connection to the pool and the furniture.
  I am very happy that I am done with my presentation, but there were many things I learn by presenting to the audience. I would like to use my skills that I built in this class in many places. I had a very meaningful study, and I want to learn about it more. I am looking forward to hear the rest of the group's presentation.

October 7th 2019

 Today, I was able to hear two group's presentation, and both was very good. I learned many things for our presentation, but I have pressure that I am almost the last one.
 For Kei, Akie, Airi's group, their talking skills were very high and it was enjoyable for me listening it. I want to learn their presentation skills. I also thought it is important to tell the main point to the audience clearly, to make them understand the groups opinion clearly. Also the thing I thought our group shouldn't do is that the time changing the slide was annoying and wasting time that the team mates weren't knowing the timing, so I thought all the group should enhance that point.
 For Arisa, Migusa, Tsubura, Nina, the way they use time was excellent that Migusa asked us questions while doing the PC stuffs.
 Mr. Parterson said that we need to appeal what we actually during the summer vacation, and get some information from different places to make the opinion persuasive.

October 1st 2019

  Today, I heard two presentation. Both was very interesting and it was helpful to make our presentation better.
  First, Mayako, Joei, Kosei's group had ideas to make the classroom that we use in LE better. I thought it is a very interesting idea to make the wall all windows, but I thought it is difficult to do that . If we make all of the walls transparent, student's privacy will not be safe, because people could see the inside. Also, maybe student could feel uncomfortable being in a place that can see many things(for example other class's class and other people walking.
  Next, I thought Mitsuki, Sayo, Ibuki's presentation was fantastic. It was not impractical, and the change was an easy one so it seemed we can do this right away. I thought we should find changes like this to make the school a little bit better. also, their home page was very attractive and made me read almost all. I thought I want to make a home page like this, and get read by many people.

September 30th 2019

  Today was the last day we could prepare for the presentation. We mainly made the home page to make the audience could comprehend more about our opinion. It was difficult to make our home page visual and fun, by containing many information. It was difficult, but it was fun making it with my groups, and I also felt proud of my self that I made a homepage for our selves. It sounds very cool.
  Also, we looked the inside of the presentation again, and searched for any missing points. The bad point of our presentation for the first term was the idea are impractical. It was very difficult to solve this problem, but I want to think of some ideas to make it more realistic.
  I am looking forward to hear other group's presentation, but I am very nervous to do our groups.

September 16th 2019

  Today, we prepared for the presentation for next next week. We changed the way of writing the references of the photos and made the power point more visual by using photos that matches the point. It was a little bit difficult finding a photo that matches the point and also pulling in the audience to our presentation. We tried to find the photo that best matches our image but this was not easy. We took time to find the photo and think of what word matches the point that we want to talk about (for example "unrealistic" matches the word "dream", and we can find a photo describes the word "dream").
  We improved the power point so we want to have a better presentation than before.

September 9th 2019

   The presentation for this term is coming soon, and we have to be ready for the better presentation. Last week, we learned about how to have a presentation with high credibility, but this week, we had a class for learning how to make people know more about our opinions. I thought this is also very important to not stop the activity just by having a presentation.
   I thought it is very important because if someone had a interest on our school design, it will be perfect if we had a item to explain our opinion more specifically, because that we don't have much time to talk about every single thing that our group want to say in the ten minute presentation. So then, we learned how to use google web page. It was very easy to make our group's own page and it was also enjoyable. I am looking forward to have a only one web page.
   To be honest, I am not really confident on my presentation, and right now, we have many thing to prepare, but I want many people to recognize about our design, so I will do the best to have a better presentation.

September 2th 2019

 Today was the first day of the second term, and we had a class with two new students with a little bit different environment. To have a better presentation, Mr Paterson told us to reference many information and fact. For the presentation before, our group only said our own opinion and had less persuasiveness. If we don't have any item to reinforce the opinion, it will be difficult to convince the audience. I thought today's class made me know more about good environment for studying.
 However, there were not much information for the topic that I am in the charge, so it was very difficult to find the information. I
 For the next class, I want to have a better presentation with my group.

Reflection for this term

  This term I had a meaningful study in this class. My presentation skills, communication skills, and my vocabulary skills improved by qualifying in this class and I also found new perspectives. In this class, I learned many things from different directions.
  First, my presentation skills grown up. Mainly, the ability to discover issues and a skill to have a smooth presentation. My ability to discover issues grew up by looking for problems in the school and learning about widening point of view. I learned that it is important to look for problems by pretending that you are a visitor that came to this school for the first time, or a teacher, and of course students. There would be many problems that other people can see but you can not see. So, before we start, we walked around the school thinking that we came to the school for the first time.First, I thought it is very difficult  to do this, but I it was very enjoyable and not as difficult as I imagined. Pretending like a different person was very fresh and I liked it. However, there were still limitations on discovering for problems. We found many problems imagining that I am a different people, but there are many more things that we could not imagine enough. For example, to find problems that teachers feel, we need to use what teachers use and have a student, and act like them. It is almost impossible to do this, so I thought we could have an interview to our teachers to find problems. Also, pretending as a visitor perfectly is very difficult, and there will be many things we could not see because you know about it and get used for it.
  Second, my communication skills improved too. Working in this group, working with Jo and Ren was the first time for me so I was worried about it for the fist time, but actually it was very fun, and I think we have builded up each others communication skills together. I learned that we have to show off our team work in the presentation, not only working together. In reality, audience feels comfortable if the presenter are on a good mood. I felt very good when I hear other group calling each others name and saying thank you to each other. I don't want to forget about this because it is very easy to do this and I also think this is a very important thing.
  Third, my vocabulary skills improved in this term, and this is my most poor at, so it was very good for me to improve it. The apps that Mr. Paterson told us that can evaluate the vocabularies that we had used in the paragraph was a perfect app and I am still using that to improve my skills. I learned it is important to use high-leveled words usually, like writing blog posts and sentences each day. I think my variations of vocabularies will increase like this, not just remembering it.  Also, working on presentations and speaking to everyone made my use many kinds of vocabularies. It was difficult to choose words that fits my feeling the best very quickly and say it to people by being careful for audiences misunderstanding. However, I understand how it is important and how it develops my skills so I want to practice doing something like that.
  In this class, I got to learn many things, not only English, a skill that we can use in any ways. I am now making use of these skills to have a presentation(Japanese). This class was very enjoyable, fun,  international, and meaningful. Thank you for your meaningful class. I am looking forward to have more classes in the next term.

  Today, our group had a reflection from Mr Paterson. I thought it would be a very scary one, but actually, I felt very happy hearing his comments to our group.
  Bad points for me was that I said "um..." and "like..." many time and that interacted the audience concentrating on our presentation. Also, some of our slides were wrong, for example the reflection slide was not enough, and one more thing slide was not a slide that Mr Paterson expected. These part was a part that we could have fixed without the skills so I feel very regret. Also, my movement of the  hands were sometimes weird.
  I want to improve these points before we have a presentation next time.

July 1st 2019

  Today, we had a presentation from Akie, Kei, and Airi. It was very interesting that they had a presentation of problems of the school's system. Our group didn't even think of that. Their presentation was very good because they moved around the classroom during the presentation, and their voice was big and also easy to catch. I want to copy their good points when I have a presentation in the second term.
  However, I had few oppose to their opinion. First, I don't think the time between class and class is not enough. It is enough to move to the other class and get ready for the next class. I don't think we need time to rest because everyone would not use that time in a good way. I think that time will be a waste of time. There are many people in this school that takes many times to go back home like me. I need to take one hour and a half. So if the time to rest increase, these people will not have times to have fun with their families, and doing what you want to do as Kei said in their presentation (homework problems). So this part did not have much persuasiveness for me.
　I liked how Akie talked, so I want to copy her skills until the next time we can present.

  Today, I had our groups presentation. It was better than how I practiced at my house, but I thought it was better when we practiced this as a group.
  I think three of us did very good for individual. Our voice was loud, not to slow not to fast and the inside of the presentation was not bad. However, we had almost no movements in our presentation. We moved our hands big, and had some eye-contacts but we didn't move from one place until our own part finish. I think it was difficult to hear for people who was sitting on the other side. However, even though we communicated during the term, we could not appeal that part. We did the least to appeal that by introducing each others and using each others names during the presentation but maybe, that was not enough.
  To reflect my own part, I think I couldn't sum up the summary and the point that our group wanted to say the most. We wanted to tell the part that there are many problems that teachers don't know, there are other problems that teacher feels, and, it is not always good to look for problems all time and by happy on what you have now. Now I think the main point was too much and we couldn't tell all of this to other people.
  So, until next time, I will limit the main point and tidy the points more clearly. I am looking forward to have a better presentation second term. Thank you for teaching us presentation skills that we can use all time.

  Today, was the first day of presentation. It was interesting for me to see other people's presentation before my group have a presentation. There were many groups that had a presentation about natural lights, but first, I didn't understand why is that important for learning. I thought it is enough if we have lights even it is electric light. However, when I ask for that, there was a explanation that there is a prove from some places. I understand that, but I thought it is very important to have a thorough presentation by explaining the prove. Also, there were groups that they related the school from long time ago and now as a explanation of the reason they thought this is a problem. These made the presentation thorough and easy to understand.
  These points from other group made our presentation more better. We didn't put those proves in our presentation too, for example, for my part, I haven't putted the reason why having width is good so I put that newly.
  I got to learn many things from other people's presentation and now, I got a little confidence for tomorrow's presentation.

  I was worried about my grammer in my presentation, but by hearing Mr Paterson's episode, I got some of the confidence.
  Today, Wi-Fi was slow again so the amount we could work on our presentation was little. It wasn't almost a class so this is one of the big problem in this school. to have a meaningful class we need good internet environment.

  Today, I was so tired and sleepy because I practiced running in the morning before class. I woke up on 5 O'clock, so I am very sleepy. I don't think I can do class after English. 

  Our power point are on the summary, but it is difficult to think of it. It is hard to connect all these problems that we picked up. I don't know we are moving in a good pace or not so I am little scared and worried. I am enjoying making the power point, so I want to make the power point better. 

June 11th 2019

  I feel very uncomfortable for the presentation. The day of the presentation is very soon! I felt it is difficult to use photo the best and talk fluently. However, the skill that Mr Paterson taught us are all fantastic, and that made me enjoy making the power point. Jo was not here today, so the move of the practice was slow, but I think it moved smoothly. There were many problems for the locker but I think it will be hard to say it in one time.

  Today, we watched the video before we work on our own presentation. it was about creative common, but I didn't really understand what the video is saying.

  I am working on with the locker in the presentation, and I felt there are many problems for it. First, it is small, and skinny that it is very hard to tidy in it. I took a photo of inside the locker to show how it is untidy. However, in the other class, there was a person who were getting data from other people(for example how do you feel about the locker or have you ever had a problem with it). I thought that was a very good idea because we can be able to prove that this is the problem. It will be able to get peoples agreement to the topic. I want to do soe thing like that to make our presentation better. 

June 4th 2019

    Today, the Wi-Fi did not work, so it was difficult to move the class. Wi-Fi frustrated me a lot, so I thought the school must improve the environment of the internet as fast as they can. It makes the class so boring, sleepy and nothing to do. To have a meaningful class, I thought the school need to improve the internet environment.
   Well, in the class, we learned how to keep attention to the audience. We are told that Mr Paterson used 135 slides in the previous presentation(about the house that he made him self). I was surprised that no one even guessed about it and I wonder why we were so drawn on Mr Paterson's presentation. I want to do a presentation like him, that everyone keep attention to. I learned that it is good to use many photos instead of words, so I want to that right away on my presentation.

June 3rd 2019

   I was very surprised about Mr Parterson's presentation about making a house in their own. I didn't even thought about making a house by myself. The house was so big and refreshed, and I felt I want to live there too(well, I don't have much money like that). I need more creativity.
   Also, I was very surprised with how Mr Parterson had a presentation to us. He almost just used photos in the slide, and that made us easy to understand how Mr Parterson build the log house and what he learned from that. I didn't be bored listening his presentation, and I got the main point that he anted to tell. I thought I need to be more creative and be positive by thinking that we(I) can do anything. Also, challenges make people learn many things that is very imported for living in the community. I had a very good class today too. I got to learn how to do a good presentation, and how creativity make people develop. I think it is difficult, but I felt that I want to challenge something new.
 

May 27th 2019

      Today, we talked in groups for what are we going to have a presentation. It was fun, thinking about it, but it was very difficult too. First, we were on a trap that we couldn't think of any limitation, but then we talked and talked, ant limited in to inside school. I felt the limitation is too big, but now, I think this is the good imitation we can think of. In addition, finding problems were easy, other than thought. I think this is because we learned about how to get a good idea. We used a way to write it up in the document as many as we can, but I also try to think about the problem all day at the school too, so I think that's why I had many ideas, and a work to write down  ideas became a bit easy. I thought again that think about the problem on a daily basis.

     Today, I learnt how simple is good for presentation. I always made power points very complicated, so I thought I need to improve my skills of doing a good power point.

     I don' t know when it will be, but I made a opportunity to have a presentation in front of 12th( It will be Japanese) . It will be a good opportunity for me to make a use of what Mr Parterson taught us in the class. Now, I am making a power point for this presentation, but I am trying to not to make any noise in the page, and make it as simple as I can. I am also using good photos for the title.
    What I learned from this class made me enjoy making it, and I believe, this will be the best power point I had ever made myself. I will try my best to make everyone keep attention.Thank you!

　　Today, we mainly talked about our presentation in groups. I was surprised that many ideas were written in the docs. When I thought about it by my self before, I couldn't get much ideas but when I wrote it with my friends, I got many ideas and had many things to write it in. I thought this(google docs) is fantastic, and it is better then writing ideas in paper. Also, there was a place that we can chat so we can do this even we are in different places.
     For presentation, Mr Paterson told us the mouth of the group is the first, information of the group will be the second, and the heart of the group is the last one to speak. I will be the last(I think). I want to do a good presentation with my group.

    In this class, I recognized how Japanese education is low-leveled, not using any technologies and they never think for any convenient designs. I was very surprised by a statistics that showed a percentage of people having a class with computer. Japan was almost the least, and the number was 9.9. As Mr Paterson said, this number is horrible. In reality, I had never used computer in my old Japanese school, unlike my old international school had ICT class. There are a big gap between Japan and other countries.
   Also, I was surprised about the design of Google office. It had a space to do the rock climing too. It was unbelievable for me that there is a place to play in the office to do work. Foods and drinks are free so I thought I want to work there when I became a adult.
   The thing that I was most interested in this class is that there are many problems we can find at school. Mainly, if we do a walking talk, the idea will be more better. I was surprised that there were many problems in this school.

   Today, in this class, Mr Parterson taught us about how the school must be in these days. He introduced us many technologies and interesting designs which school should take in to improve student's academic ability. I did't even heard or saw any designs but all of them were very interesting for me, and I very enjoyed the class today. Among all of the design that Mr Parterson introduced me, I liked the computer holder. I thought it is so cool and convenient, but also, it looked very expensive.
  By having the class today, I felt people should improve educations for children. Mainly, Japanese education are not advanced, so they should be involved in other countries that has high technology education. Japanese school's design are so modern, and I felt it is not a good way to learn. All of the tables and chairs are same size and same height, and arranged regularly. It has no interest and convenience I can't understand what is good about it. I want Japanese school will change as soon as possible.

      This is my second time to write my blog. For the first one, I forgot to click publish, so I will try not to forget it again.

      In this class, we mainly read other people's blog. I didn't have time to read all of them, but I thought everyone's was good. Mainly, I liked Akie's, because she wrote almost a same thing as everyone else(about WiFi and stuff)but then, she was writing it very creatively. I enjoyed reading her's. I felt mine was so boring after I read Akie's blog. I want to build up my skills and write a blog that many people would enjoy reading it.
     I thought all school should use blogger in their class, to improve student's skills of writing and also, reflection skills. If we write a paragraph like this two times a week, I predict that students will enjoy writing this until the end of the year. Also, by writing the blog in three days, we can get in to the habit to reflect the class, and that will encourage many of our skills not only English.

      Today, one thing it  was horrible about the class is that the wi-fi was so slow that we couldn't advance the class smoothly. To make the class move better, the school should set a better environment for the internet.   
      Well, we still had a meaningful class today too. We learned how to make our own blog. I was interested because it was the first time for me to write things in blog like this. It was interesting for me that there was a way to share a blog like this. I feel it is very difficult to write a blog for every class, but I will endeavor to write it until three days after. I think this will be a good training to expand my vocabularies and to develop my writing skills. Mr Parterson said that we should write this blog in three days from class, and it was because we should write this in our own feelings. Not memories. I was empathized on this word and I will write this blog as quick as I can.
